Introduce an Archery Program in Your Area Archery programs have been successfully introduced into school districts in 36 states as a 2 week physical education class. Most programs are part of the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) which was started in Kentucky by the state Department of Education and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. The NASP program has made grants available to states to help develop and implement these programs; the ATA has given over $300,000 in grants to states to begin programs. To view a technical publication outlining the success of these programs and the program history, click below. SAFETY: Safety is a primary concern for those interested in implementing school or community archery programs. Most school insurance providers recognize the safety of archery by providing coverage under existing policies that cover all other sports and recreational activities. ArrowSport, a foundation of the Archery Trade Association provides a technical publication outlining the safety of archery, called, Archery, the Safe Sport. To download a copy, click below.
